On March 24, Ignite youth got together in the basement of St. Nicholas Parish for a paska and pysanka workshop.
The St. Nicholas ladies league were gracious enough to provide some insight to the importance and tradition of paska making, as well as thier expertise in decorating the Easter bread
Plastyanytsia Hop 2013
The UCY’s annual Plastyanytsia Hop for the 2013 Easter Season was very successful. The youth travelled to eight different churches as a group. Over the course of the afternoon, the number of participants ranged from five to thirteen. Youth came from around four or five different Parishes. The event started at 4:00 on the south side of Edmonton at St. Nicholas and wound its way around the whole city ending up in each end, at one of the many Ukrainian Catholic churches and ended up downtown at St. Josaphat’s Cathedral ending closer to 11:00pm. The youth learnt a lot by having self lead sessions or by spending times singing, praying and speaking with our many different clergy members. The event was enlightening and a growing experience!
